Specialist roles need special solutions.

Specialist roles need special solutions.

Specialist roles need special solutions.

The situation

NHS Trusts have a range of specialist nursing roles that involve advanced, patient-focused care within specific clinical areas. This expertise and specialised training help nurses to navigate complex cases and give patients the care and attention that they need.

Early years and child support roles are fundamental in giving mums and children the best possible start in life. So they need to hire nursing staff who are not only the best at giving healthcare, attention and advice, but also the emotional support and experience that can give new mums, experienced mums, babies and young children everything that they need to live happy, healthy lives.

The solutions

The following case studies show how we helped three NHS Trusts across London.

Each ad was tailored for nursing professionals at different stages of maternity and childcare, and support for mums and children. From Midwives to Health Visitors to Child Protection Nurses - who help those children that need more support - these recruitment ads each focus on the emotive, sometimes humorous, reasons why specialist nursing professionals can use their training and skills to the best of their abilities in some of London's most challenging boroughs.

Kingston Hospital NHS Trust

From consultation with the client, we discovered a key insight that midwives want to provide the best continuous care and support families as early as possible after conception.

Just... perhaps… not quite that soon.

Kingston Hospital offered its midwives this opportunity, and our ad framed this early-intervention approach with a tongue-in-cheek tone that stood out from the standard midwifery roles being advertised.

NHS Barking and Dagenham

Health Visitors make sure mothers and newborns have access to the right mix of individual support and services. From health checks and developmental reviews to guidance on parenting, feeding, and mental health, they have the skills necessary to give new mums and babies the very best start in life.

By using an ultrasound scan as the main visual, we wanted our ad to demonstrate that in Barking and Dagenham, one of London's more challenging boroughs, their expertise would ensure that babies born there transition from one safe environment into another.

The press ad was supported by a short YouTube video showcasing a soon-to-be-born baby's hopes and dreams, and that Barking and Dagenham's newest Health Visitors would be able to play a vital part in making some of those dreams come true.

NHS Haringey

As a direct response to the tragedy of 'Baby P', NHS Haringey needed to urgently address how to identify signs of abuse and neglect in schools and ensure children were protected from anything like that happening again.

Investment in specialist child protection nurses was part of significant commitment to raising standards across all safeguarding services across Haringey. By embedding some of these roles within schools, nurses could intervene at the earliest opportunity and potentially save lives. This is why we explored the school-based theme in the headline and visual. We wanted to highlight the environment they could be working in, and remind candidates of the children they would be working to keep safe.

Given the subject matter, this was possibly one of the most challenging ads that I've been a part of creating. However, knowing it helped to employ those who protect vulnerable children makes it one of the projects I'm most proud of.
