The situation
The Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA), an executive agency of the Department for Transport, provides 24/7 coastal search and rescue while overseeing vital legislation and certification for the UK's maritime industry.
They wanted to expand their talent pool of Marine Surveyors by attracting seasoned maritime professionals who had more than earned their sea legs, but were at a time in their career where they were ready to move to a more stable, land-based career.

The solution
We created an advert that tapped into this next chapter of these professionals' careers, focusing on the emotional rewards of moving into a role onshore. The ad demonstrated that potential candidates could bring their expertise and still be a part of a sector they love, while also spending more time with their loved ones.
To heighten the emotion, we moved away from standard industry photography and commissioned an illustration in the style of 1920s and '30s travel posters, showing a father and daughter fishing together on a jetty.
By breaking the conventions of traditional, role-based recruitment advertising we crafted an ad that stood out and made more of a splash.
